At your initial visit we review your problem, general health, medical history and available imaging & other studies.
An examination is performed. We discuss our impression of what your problem is and propose a treatment, if appropriate. Treatment is usually performed on the first visit. If needed, other tests such as X-rays, may be ordered. We can access your studies, in our office, from both Cortland Regional Medical Center and Cayuga Medical Center. Your initial response is evaluated on a follow up visit within a day or two and a treatment plan is further reviewed and discussed.
With severe and chronic cases, our goal is a significant (30-50%) decrease in symptoms and improvement in function within 6 visits, over 2 to 3 weeks. If you have improved, need for further care is determined. If we are unable to help you as much as we would like, we have a great network of providers to consult with and refer to. We are pleased to share your records with your other healthcare providers.
Our goals are to reduce symptoms, get you back to your usual activities, improve and maximize your spinal function and prevent your problem from returning or worsening. We don't require you to come in for an excessive number of visits. We recommend enough treatment to serve you best to reach these goals. This is determined on an individual basis. We take into account the nature and severity of your problem, your expectations and what are realistic goals, based on our years of experience & best practice guidelines.
We believe and evidence supports occasional adjustments keep problems from returning, prevents further degeneration of your condition and helps you to achieve maximum function. Once maximum improvement is achieved, we recommend periodic maintenance or wellness care, based on your status.
